Fox News host Bret Baier said he spoke to President Trump on the phone and confirmed 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday is Iran’s deadline.
“He said 8pm is happening,” Baier said.
“If we get to that point, there is going to be an attack like they have not seen,” Baier continued.
“He’s sticking to that at this point,” he added.
“Now he said if negotiations move forward today and there is something concrete, that could change,” he noted.

Fox News shared further:
Iran has threatened to take action if President Donald Trump follows through on threats to use military force against civilian targets if Tehran fails to capitulate.
“Iran will not stand idle in the face of such egregious war crimes,” said Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations. “It will exercise without hesitation its inherent right of self-defense, and will take immediate and proportionate reciprocal measures.”
Iravani said Iran has rejected a temporary ceasefire proposal, “particularly in light of the June experience, when hostilities resumed under false pretext. A ceasefire in this context serve only to the arm and prepare for the continuation of further crimes.”
Trump has set an 8 p.m. EST deadline for Iran to open the waterway, or else face the destruction of its power plants and bridges.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday.
A UN envoy tasked with helping resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis is “on his way to Tehran” to continue consultations with mediators, signaling renewed diplomatic activity despite ongoing tensions, Iravani said.
Vice President JD Vance said he was optimistic Iran would respond before the 8 p.m. deadline.
“I really think there are two pathways,” Vance said in Hungary, according to CBS News.
“The president’s been very clear about this. There are two pathways that this thing is ultimately going to end, First of all, the United States has largely accomplished its military objectives. There are still some things that we’d like to do — for example, on Iranian ability to manufacture weapons, that we’d like to do a little more work on militarily. But fundamentally, the military objectives of the United States have been completed,” he continued.

CBS News noted:
In the first path, Iran makes a deal, Vance said, but if Iran doesn’t make a deal and chooses the second path, the economic situation in the country is “going to continue to be very, very bad.” Vance insisted Iran is attacking U.S. partners in the Middle East precisely because the U.S. has largely achieved its military objectives and Iran is “trying to extract as much economic pain on the world as possible.”
