Alexa Henning, chief of staff for Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, blasted Reuters for its initial headline in reporting Gabbard’s resignation from her position.

Henning shared a screenshot of the outlet’s original headline, which read:

“White House forced top spy Gabbard to resign, source says”

“Just when you think you don’t hate the media enough @Reuters. This is false. Her husband, who is an absolutely incredible human being, has been diagnosed with a rare bone cancer,” Henning said.

Reuters changed the headline to read: “Gabbard resigns as Trump’s top US intelligence official”

BREAKING: Director Of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard To Resign, Reveals Heartbreaking Family News

Reuters wrote:

A source familiar with the matter said that Gabbard had been forced out by the White House. Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, said on X that Gabbard was stepping aside in light of her husband's diagnosis.

"Tulsi Gabbard is an America First patriot who has served this country faithfully and extremely well over the last 16 months," Ingle said.

In her resignation letter posted on X, Gabbard told Trump she was "deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half."

She cited her husband Abraham Williams' recent diagnosis with a rare form of bone cancer.

"He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle," Gabbard said.

Fox News shared further:

Trump reacted to the resignation later on Friday, writing on Truth Social, "Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th."

"Her wonderful husband, Abraham, has been recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and she, rightfully, wants to be with him, bringing him back to good health as they currently fight a tough battle together," he continued. "I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever. Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her. Her highly respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence."

Gabbard said she has "made significant progress at the ODNI — advancing unprecedented transparency and restoring integrity to the intelligence community," but said she recognizes "there is still important work to be done."
